As the moon connects one to nature, the moonstone also reminds us that our lives go through phases with highs and lows. The science

The moonstone is a variety of feldspar minerals. When light falls on moonstone, it scatters; producing the phenomenon called adularescence. Adularescence is when light appears to flow and strike through and across a gem. Moonstone’s ethereal glow is due to light scattering between the layers of feldspar.

On the Mohs hardness scale, it is a 6-6.5. High quality moonstones will have minimal cloudiness and whiteness, with a distinct electric blue shimmer. Moonstone is commonly found in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Madagascar, Brazil, Australia and India. With varieties that produce blue, rainbow or white reflections.
